The flowers were in full bloom and the trees were displaying their new leaves just in time for Spring Family Weekend.
Families and friends were welcomed on Friday, May 1 with a reception followed by a barbeque dinner under a tent beautifully decorated to celebrate “A Knight With The Stars!" Guests enjoyed performances from the Classical, Jazz and Rock Ensembles. Student performers included David Kang '11, Jae Oh '11, YJ Park '10, Oliver Mashburn '11, Matt Hood '11, Cody Bell '11, Michael Rubin '11, Thatcher Hoyt '10, Nick Jordan '10, Nick Ryder '09, Tyler Wilson-Menting '11 and Richard Kim '09.
After enjoying some cake and ice cream, guests traveled across campus to the Seifert Theater to enjoy musical numbers from “The Music Man” performed by Cody Bell '11, Steve Cabrera '09, Instructor in Spanish Dennis Wachter, Michael White '11 and Alex Orthwein '09. Audience members also enjoyed a play written and produced by sixth formers Hunt Carpenter, Jarrett Dillon and Travis Zissu. The evening festivities concluded with a bonfire and pep rally on the front hill.
Saturday, May 2 brought everyone back to the Hilltop early in the morning to attend a special chapel service with Reverend Duane Estes and the Gospel Choir led by Director Michael Brown. After chapel, the boys went off to their classes, and while some parents tagged along with their sons, others attended a variety of offerings. Parents enjoyed learning more about the Entrepreneurial Studies Program, speaking with the College Office, finding out about art class offerings in woodworking and boat building, participating in a drawing class, hearing about nutrition at Salisbury and rediscovering The Year 1968 with Instructor in History Dennis Shortelle.
After lunch, friends and families took to the fields to cheer on the Knights!
