A new playing surface using the latest in turf technology is being installed this summer on the Class of 1997 field. The new field will be equipped with the newest generation of FieldTurf (Pro Series Duraspine Monofilament) and lined for football, lacrosse, and soccer, providing great benefits to students and the athletic program. The field is a gift from Ted Wachtmeister, a member of the Class of 1967, and honors his two sons, Erik '95 and Carl '98 both of whom competed in football and lacrosse for Salisbury. The facility will allow for greater flexibility of the athletic schedule during inclement weather. Athletic teams will be able to use the field earlier in the spring season than ever before. It will also provide a large enough space for multiple teams to practice simultaneously.
New grand stands and lighting are also planned for the venue. The School is currently raising money for these elements. For more information on becoming a donor, please contact Ted Childs in the development office at (860) 435-5775.
Director of Athletics, Tim Sinclair, is excited about the new outdoor space. “We think the new field will be a valuable asset for both games and practices. It provides a wonderful opportunity for all students to have access to outdoor recreational space and is surrounded by one of the most majestic views in New England. “
