Origins of the Nickname Sarum

The original town of Salisbury in the U.K. has a beautiful and historic cathedral which was consecrated in 1226.  A mile to the north of the cathedral are the remains of a settlement from the Iron Age named Old Sarum.  A castle and an even older cathedral once stood in Old Sarum.

The image of Old Sarum reminds us of Knights and their traditions including the loyalty and honor of brotherhood.

Thus, our mascot, the Knight, and Old Sarum are very much connected.
