ABOUT THE TEAM:  Spring 2010 marked the third year of sailing as a varsity sport at The Salisbury School.  Our focus thus far has been on basic boathandling, wind and water awareness, and general sailing competence.  However, as our fundamental sailing knowledge has grown, we have been able to work into more advanced tactics and techniques, especially as they relate to team racing.

Our fleet consists of 8 420s, which are located on Lake Wononscopomuc, the home of the Hotchkiss Sailing Team. Lake Wononscopomuc has consistently surprised us this year in its persistence of wind.  4/5 of our practice days have been in over 15 knots, something I would never have imagined possible in a place so far inland.

Our team is young and new to the sailing arena, and in years to come is destined to be a force to be reckoned with.  In the meantime, I guarantee no team in the history of the school has had more fun per capita than the 2010 Spring Varsity Sailing Team.

The racing season is over, and we are moving the boats back to the lake here on the Salisbury Campus.  We will continue to do recreational and instructional practice.  Here are some photos from our latest funday on the western twin lake. http://www.flickr.com/photos/upload/done/
