Giving

Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends,

The qualities in the School’s motto Esse Quam Videri, "To be rather than to seem to be," extend beyond the boundaries of the campus, to those who support Salisbury’s mission by their generous volunteer time and their philanthropic support.  In the case of current parents, we know that this support comes in addition to your very significant investment in tuition.  For past parents, alumni and friends, we know that this support comes in addition to your support for other worthwhile organizations.  To all, we are extremely grateful and honored by your decision to invest in Salisbury.

As we begin the final year of the For The Boys Campaign, your generosity richly deserves a very public thank you.  Since the beginning of the Campaign, you have:

Contributed $100,481,992 in gifts and pledges to support the mission of Salisbury School

Raised the Annual Fund from $1,400,000 in 2008 to $1,883,992 in 2013, and raised the Annual Fund in five of the last six years.

Created seven (7) new Endowed Scholarships

Created six (6) new Endowed Funds

Created three (3) new Endowed Teaching Fellowships

Improved Salisbury through an ambitious Sixth Form Gift Program including:

  • Class of 2008 – Entrance to the Flood Athletic Center
  • Class of 2009 – Championship Lounge in the Floor Athletic Center
  • Class of 2010 – Wachtmeister Field Stadium Seating
  • Class of 2011 – Endowed Teaching Fellowship
  • Class of 2012 – Restoration & Renovation of Main Front Entrance
  • Class of 2013 - Global Classroom and Video Conferencing Center

This is a tremendous list of accomplishments that you have made possible for the boys and for the men and women who teach them.  On behalf of them, and all of us, thank you.

As we focus our energy on successfully crossing the finish line of the For The Boys Campaign, our gratitude for your generosity is matched with the knowledge that our job is not complete.  In the final year, we must raise approximately $5,000,000 more in gifts and pledges, and achieve a $2,000,000 Unrestricted Annual Fund.  Every dollar that you commit, whether it is to the Annual Fund (including the Parents Fund), the endowment, a capital project leadership gift, the Sixth Form Gift or a Deferred (Planned) Gift, will move Salisbury closer to the finish line.

Thank you for what you have done to take Salisbury to such heights, and thank you for considering what you might do to help carry Salisbury across this important finish line.

All of us in the Alumni and Development Office stand ready to assist you in any way we can, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Hilltop.

With best wishes,

"Those who know Salisbury best know that our school is not just special, it is unique and distinctive and lives its mission, “Esse Quam Videri” or “To Be Rather Than Seem To Be” through the actions of its boys and its faculty, its alumni, its parents and past parents, and its friends on a daily basis."
