Junior Varsity Football vs. Trinity-Pawling

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away

Date: September 25, 2017

Result:Win
Score:20-16

Event Recap:

The Knights rolled into Pawling, NY hungry for their early season tilt with the Pride of Trinity Pawling. Salisbury was led on offense by the strong ground attack of Trey Scotti '20 and David Clark '21. Scotti found the end zone twice, including a Walter Payton style cutback where he hurdled a defender en route to the goal line. The line blocked ferociously in the trenches to open holes for the backs, and to protect quarterbacks Connor Angera '19 and Chad Johnson '21 as they dropped into the pocket. Angera completed a number of crucial passes, converting several key third downs, and also used his legs to devastating impact.

Defensively, the Knights were led by the linebacking corps of Austin Pelayo '20, JR Coster '19, Jack Souder '18, and Michael Giambrone '20. The defensive line of Will Philo '19, Martin Ma '19, John Gimbel '21, and Rex Weil '21 all added crucial sacks and tackles for a loss.

There were many great lessons learned, and the Knights are looking forward to carrying those lessons with them to Avon, CT when they take on the AOF JV'ers this Wednesday.
