vs. Loomis Chaffee

Soaring Pelicans Top Knights
Perennial powerhouse Loomis Chaffee traveled to the Hilltop on Wednesday and hung a 5-1 loss on the game-but-overmatched Knights. The Pelicans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Salisbury defense withstood further advances, while the attack produced a goal before halftime to trim the deficit to 2-1 at the break. Three unanswered Pelican goals in the second half put the game out of reach. The win was the fifth straight for Loomis (8-2), who have rung up 33 goals in the streak while allowing just 3.
“It was another tough loss,” remarked Coach Walsh later. “We gave up two unfortunate goals in the first 15 minutes, but settled in and earned a goal back before halftime. Gates [Jansen] got the ball on the counter and played a through-ball to Thomas [Yegbor], who finished. We competed through to the half. Loomis scored ten minutes into the second half on a failed clearance that somehow looped over our starting goalie Wes Cobb. We fought for the remainder of the game, but conceded twice more while pushing and couldn't earn any ourselves.”
Salisbury (2-7) will travel to Westminster on Saturday looking to earn its third win of the season.
