vs. Millbrook School
|Date:||October 14, 2017|
The Knights lost a hard-fought game against a spartan Mustang team by the score of 3 -2 on a busy parent's weekend at host Millbrook School. This despite the Knights taking an early lead on a penalty kick 10 minutes in. After a Millbrook defender committed the hand ball infraction, forth former Matt Peoples converted the penalty with a well-placed ball to the corner. However, a temporary breakdown in communication soon saw the Mustangs bring it even and shortly thereafter catch the stunned Knights for another goal leaving the score 2-1 at halftime.
Minutes into the start of the second half, Dylan Anton made good on one of a few opportunities he had on the day and buried a half volley that arose from a deflection off of fellow Knight David Dorsey, into the back of the net. Both teams stepped up the pressure to unlock the tie but ultimately it was the Mustangs who found a way to connect for their third and final goal. Over the last ten minutes the front line and mid fielders including Chuck Wang, Kevin Bernard and Wally McKeon served up some opportunities but scrappy Millbrook turned them away. Despite the loss, some strong defensive play and goal tending came from the back line and Mark Segalla who was in net from start to finish.
Next up for the Knights is the much-anticipated inter-squad match against Crimson on parent’s weekend.
