Growing up in nearby Copake, NY and Great Barrington, MA, Josh first joined the Salisbury community in the fall of 2007 as a freshman. Attracted to rowing by stories of Salisbury shared by his father (Jeff Weinstein, '74); Josh walked onto the crew team where he quickly learned the value of goal setting, determination, and team work from his coaches and teammates. After a year in the novice program he earned a seat in the first varsity boat where he remained for his remaining three years on The Hilltop. Highlights of his time rowing at Salisbury include a 2nd place finish in the NEIRA Championships, a 3rd place finish at the World Indoor Rowing Championships, and participation in The Henley Royal Regatta in England. Co-captain of the 2011 team, Josh graduated with distinction in Philosophy & Religion and Music.
A firm believer in leaving the world better than he found it, Josh moved to Rhode Island to explore his budding interest in sustainable entrepreneurship at Brown University. Outside of the classroom, Josh rowed alongside former Salisbury teammates Kyle Beatty '08 and George Whitridge '08 in Brown's D1 program while participating in a variety of extra-curricular activities; including a volunteer teaching program where he found his passion for helping students learn and grow. Completing his capstone work on socially responsible investing in 2015, Josh graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Organizations.
Before returning to The Hilltop, Josh formed and managed business development partnerships for an environmentally-friendly startup in their New York and Boston offices. Grateful for the impact the Salisbury community made on his life, Josh is excited to contribute to a fun and supportive environment that fosters personal growth.
In his free time, Josh can be found adventure traveling. Gravitating to roads less traveled, Josh rarely leaves The Hilltop without his mountain bike, backcountry skis, or fly rod in tow.
