Preparing for a school admissions interview can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are seven tips to help you feel confident and ready for the big moment: 

  1. Practice – The more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll be. Sit down with a parent or friend and have them run a mock interview. Let them ask questions on the spot and give you feedback on your answers, body language, and tone. 

  1. Do Your Research – Learn about the school before your interview. Explore the website, review basic facts, and think carefully about why you’re interested. Be ready to explain what excites you about the school and why you believe it’s a good fit. 

  1. Dress the Part – Whether your interview is on campus or online, dress neatly and professionally. Looking polished shows you take the process seriously and want to make a strong impression. 

  1. Check Technology and Environment – For virtual interviews, test your audio and camera ahead of time and have your login information ready. Choose a quiet space without distractions, and make sure your backdrop is clean, uncluttered, and well-lit. Position your camera at eye level so you’re easy to see.
