A MESSAGE FROM THE SEARCH COMMITTEE
Dear Salisbury Community,
As our community moves forward with the challenging task of finding a successor for our beloved Headmaster Chisholm Chandler, the search process will be very mindful of Salisbury's lasting traditions set forth within our school motto Esse Quam Videri and the timeless values embodied in what it means to be a Salisbury Gentleman. With these guideposts, Salisbury has engaged Spencer Stuart, a world class executive search firm to advise us in the process of finding a new Head of School for the premier all-boys boarding school in the nation.
Salisbury enters this search in the strongest position in the school's history, faithfully fulfilling its mission of educating and developing boys into young men of character, tenacity and empathy. Along with our partner, Spencer Stuart, we are commencing a process which will engage all members of the Salisbury community, including faculty, staff, the boys, alumni, parents, friends, and the Board of Trustees. All of you will receive a questionnaire asking for your thoughts on Salisbury's values and priorities and for your prioritization of the qualities and ethics to be embodied in our next leader. These results will help build a picture of Salisbury and a profile for the next Head of School. Spencer Stuart will utilize this information to begin an extensive search to fill this special and unique position.
The Search Committee is comprised of 11 people (seven members of the Board and four representatives from the School). This includes Chis Chandler and also Chair Dicky Riegel who will serve in an ex-officio capacity. The Committee is a thoughtful and diverse group of people who all care deeply about the Hilltop and about making sure the correct decision is made to honor our past, to care for today's boys, and to shepherd the School's future. As the search progresses, the Committee will be updating the Salisbury community on progress milestones at important stages and expects to make the appointment of the next Head of School in late autumn of 2021.
Thank you for your love of Salisbury. If you have questions, please reach out.
With warm regards,
Bob Zabel '85 Chair of the Head of School Search Committee
