Leadership and Community Service

Character and Promise

Salisbury School has been steadfast in its vision to cultivate leaders. Leadership is one of the School’s seven core values and the School’s mission states: “Salisbury graduates are men of character and promise who are prepared to meet the challenges of college and adulthood and to make a difference in an entrepreneurial, technological and cosmopolitan world.” It is without a doubt that Salisbury prioritizes the growth of young men who are poised to lead with a strong moral compass and vision.

Through numerous student leadership positions and intentional programming, Salisbury instills within each of its students the foundational leadership skill set needed to make a positive and effective impact in the world, now and always.

Positions of Leadership

Over one third of our student body holds a position of leadership.  With positions like Form Representatives, Dorm Prefects, Orientation Leaders, team captains, and more, there are tons of ways you can hone your leadership skills.

Big Brothers Program

The Big Brothers and Knights and Squires programs offer students a chance to step into mentorship roles for community children, promoting positive peer interaction, connection, and fun. The Big Brothers Program extends to local elementary students, while the Knights and Squires program is tailored for faculty children. Both groups partake in a variety of activities with Salisbury student mentors; continuing a tradition of Salisbury students contributing to the broader community beyond the Hilltop.

Knight Life

Our Knight Life program for third and fourth former fosters meaningful discussions on various important topics such as building a positive school culture, imparting morals and values, refining decision-making abilities, promoting healthy habits, managing stress, and resolving conflicts effectively. Faculty facilitators play a crucial role in guiding discussions aiming to empower students to take ownership of the conversation and build trust and connection within group dynamics.

Service

Our program is an all-school effort that reaches far beyond the campus, impacting the lives of Salisbury boys and others in the greater community while nurturing individual growth and leadership skills.

In partnership with local organizations, you may work together in a variety of projects including prepping and serving meals at the local soup kitchen, assisting local organizations with events, raising funds and awareness for local needs, composting at a local farm, or assisting our neighbors with yard work. With each project our goals are being met – Salisbury Knights working together to build bridges with one another and the world around us.  Through these experiences, we make an impact in our local community and learn what it means to be a member of a larger community.
