Hilltop Happenings

A Weekend Of Special Programming On The Hilltop

Pop-up programming 4.27.19

This past weekend, we engaged our community in a day of programming surrounding the topics of social courage and healthy relationships, in which we welcomed guest speakers Brook Raney and Cindy Pierce to the Hilltop.

Brook Raney's presentation focused on speaking up when a friend is engaging in risky, concerning, or illegal behavior and using "whoa" as the first step of an intervention. The talk addressed what it means to be a "whoa" friend, how to support the wellness of one's peers, how to take care of oneself, and when and how to seek help.

Speaker Cindy Pierce addressed the topics of healthy sexual behavior and choices. She spent her time educating the boys about what they're really seeing in the media so they can be more discerning in their consumption, while encouraging involvement in healthy social relationships that are not technology-dependent.

Rounding out the day, students and faculty engaged in interactive work in partnership with the One Love Foundation. The One Love Foundation works to educate young people on the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Salisbury School is committed to the health and well-being of its students. While at times difficult and uncomfortable, conversations surrounding these topics are crucial in supporting the social-emotional development of our students.

The weekend was made complete with House to House activities on Friday night and the annual One Love lacrosse game, where our Knights took the win over Hotchkiss!

It's a great time to be a Knight!
