ESPN 30 for 30 Director and Producer Marquis Daisy recently joined us virtually as a guest speaker on the Hilltop.

Marquis's hard work and determination have led him to become a sought after film-maker, specializing in highlighting the often turbulent rise of high profile athletes.

He shared the message with our boys of the importance of hard work and determination, and that "the key is to outwork everyone else."

Marquis spoke about keeping true to himself when producing his stories. He does things his way so that the final product is authentic to who he is as a person and as director/producer. Marquis attributes much of his success to the mentors in his life who provide a system of checks and balances, holding him accountable for his actions. These relationships are built from the same foundation of trust he creates with his film subjects. He spoke about the importance of connections and people he's met along the way that have come back into his life later on, and to "maintain relationships and treat people with respect and kindness!"

Marquis recommended the boys put hard work and persistence into all that they are passionate about, but not to get hung-up on things that don't always go well.
