Salisbury was excited to send participants to NAIS’s annual Student Diversity Leadership Conference and People of Color Conference.

SDLC participants “develop cross-cultural communication skills, design effective strategies for social justice practice through dialogue and the arts and learn the foundations of allyship and networking principles.” PoCC participants experienced “a safe space for leadership, professional development, and networking for people of color and allies of all backgrounds in independent schools.”

Lucas Cepeda ’24, Ryan Mohyeddin ’22, Sachem Ramos ’23, and Alton Yan ’24 dug into the work each day by learning, growing, and connecting with over 2,000 peers in schools across the country. They all found the affinity groups to be particularly impactful. Lucas noted, “It’s really fun to hang out with people similar to you and people you can just talk to without them judging you.” Art Department Chair Ian Johnson and Director of the Rudd Learning Center Kati Brandon were likewise steeped in learning and connection.

We are grateful to these students and faculty for their commitment to learning and growing, and we are excited to learn from them!
