Virtual Parents Weekend

We just hosted our first Virtual Parents Weekend on October 15-18. While a far cry from our typical gathering on the Hilltop, surrounded by sunshine, warm weather, and beautiful fall foliage that is near its peak in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut, we did manage to successfully "meet" together to join in on some unique new opportunities that were offered to our Knights and their families.

The weekend kicked off on Thursday evening with a panel discussion focused on mental health and well-being. Student Wellness Coordinator Sarah Rees and Counseling Consultant Ruth Trudeau hosted the webinar “Meaning Making,” which enabled our participants to learn how shifting one’s perspective from pursuing happiness to seeking meaning and purpose can lessen psychological distress and increase well-being, even in challenging circumstances, which is especially important in this time period for our boys.

On Friday, we hosted a Live-Streamed Chapel, followed by a regular day of classes for the boys, parent-teacher conferences via Zoom after the class day ended, and we concluded our day with Convocation.

On Saturday, parents were invited to join the Book Club to hear a lively discussion led by Phinney Library Director James King on the All School Read, Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan. Thereafter, our Fifth Form parents met with Associate Headmaster Bobby Wynne P'19 on the college process, followed by a classical music ensemble performance, an intersquad soccer scrimmage, and a cross country meet. That evening, we viewed the Knightly News to learn more about daily life on the Hilltop this trimester.

On Sunday, we hosted an International Parent Panel in the morning and our last event of the weekend was the State-of-the School Address. Most of our Virtual Parents Weekend was recorded and event sessions can be viewed here

Families, thank you for virtually joining us on the Hilltop this past weekend, and, as always, for entrusting your boys in our good care.
