Event Recap:

Knights Better Than Three Teams at XC Championships

Salisbury trekked to Sheffield, MA, on Saturday afternoon, where Berkshire hosted the Division II New England Prep School Cross-Country Championships. Roxbury Latin captured the title, placing four runners in the top fifteen finishers, designating All-New England status for the four. Tabor was the runner-up, followed by Westminster in 3rd. Salisbury finished 13th out of the 16 schools who competed in the culminating event of the fall season. A complete listing of schools and their finishes appears at the end of this report.

Nicolas Burtson of Hopkins posted a time of 16:09 to capture individual honors.

“Big personal-bests om all, as cross country finished its season on a frigid day at the New Englands,” rookie coach Thomas Severo reported on his charges’ performance. “The high level of competition,” Severo continued, “made for some impressive performances from our Knights, and all five scorers finished the course under 20 minutes.”

Putting up points for the Knights – with a tip of the hat to Severo for providing the sobriquets for each runner – were Ford-“a-love-of-God” Cousin (53rd place; 18:46), Jack “Flash” Gottsegen 57th; 18:58), Myles “Silent” Knight (75th; 19:29), Joe “Gangsta” Raab (78th; 19:32), James “Footflames” Kelly (86th; 19:46). Displacers consisted of Rob “Blastin’” Kasten (89th; 19:52) and Jack “Attack” Zhan (95th; 20:04).
