Sprenger Silver-Medalist at Hopkins Invitational

Salisbury joined 14 other schools on Saturday in New Haven, CT, for the “Rumble on the Hill” at Hopkins School. Brunswick took 1st place at the event, while Salisbury finished 10th.

In the top performance by a Knight wrestler, heavyweight Vincent Sprenger competed in the championship round before settling for the silver medal. Three other wrestlers contributed scoring for Salisbury. At 113 pounds, Ryan Mohyeddin advanced to the semifinals, where he lost, taking 4th place. Veteran Pete Schellbach was knocked out in the quarterfinals at 132 pounds but claimed two wins in the consolation bracket to finish 5th in his division. And at 170 pounds, Jackson Polverari finished in 6th place.

The format for the competition ensured that every entrant would have at least two matches, one in the championship bracket and another in the consolation bracket. Other wrestlers who competed for Salisbury included Bayron Canales-Lopez (145 lbs.), Peter Dinh (152 lbs.), Ryan Wilson (160 lbs.), and Ilya Linde (195 lbs.).
