Thirds Tennis vs. Avon Old Farms

Event Type: Regular

Date: November 8, 2017

Event Recap:

A much-improved Knights team took the field on the last game of the season and nearly tied/toppled the visiting Winged Beavers. Two near goals, one a shot careening of the cross bar and the other a last second deflection by the Avon goalie had the potential for both equalizer and go-ahead goal. However, the Knights gained solace in holding the opponents skilled offense to a single goal margin of victory versus Avon’s average five goal margin of victory this season.

In addition to the fine play of the defense led by 4th form goalie Mark Segalla, the Knights offense displayed a much surer command of the wings as both goals were the result of build ups from the outside into the center of the field. The first came off a throw in from Wally McKeon to David Dorsey who buried into the back of the net and the second came off a corner kick from Dylan Anton on to the foot of Kevin Barnard who directed it past the goalie.

The coaches look forward to seeing some of the team return next year as 4th formers and wish the best to this year’s 4th formers many of whom will be looking to progress to JV and beyond next year.
