For the 72nd summer, the faculty, staff, and student body of the Salisbury Summer School worked together to develop a community of teachers, readers, and learners. In addition to our traditional combination of study skills and composition courses, and a menu of elective work, the academic days were always full. In the afternoons this summer we complemented our athletic offerings with instruction in ceramics, theatre, and computer coding, all of which allowed students to pursue interests and discover new ones.
We had fun in other ways as well. From Champion’s League competitions to our Saturday trips to Newport, Six Flags, and Boston (including a tour of Fenway Park!), each student had ample time to enjoy new friends and new experiences. Team Shark won the Lord Sarum’s Cup in a hotly contested handball match at the session’s end. In addition, we all cheered at a Talent Show, Open-Mic Night, and this summer’s hilarious theatrical production of “Losing my Mime,” written and produced by this summer’s Theatre group.
We are extremely proud of the good work and considerable academic progress that we all witnessed this summer. Yet again, we succeeded in honoring the rich legacy of both the Summer School and Salisbury School itself. We look forward to summer 2019 on the Hilltop!
